Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 6, 2026

Liminal Tarot ("Liminal Tarot," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Dream Atlas Studio. Dream Atlas Studio is the data controller for personal information processed through the Services.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use our website, applications, and related services, including liminaltarot.com and any associated mobile experience (collectively, the "Services").

By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect when you:

  • visit our website;
  • create an account;
  • use tarot readings, daily card, chapters, journaling, yes/no tarot, or related features;
  • subscribe to a paid plan;
  • contact us; or
  • otherwise interact with the Services.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites, products, or services that may be linked from the Services.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect:

  • Account information, such as your email address and authentication details when you sign in using magic link or social login.
  • Profile information, such as your display name, experience level, deck preferences, onboarding responses, and account settings.
  • User content, such as questions or intentions you enter, cards you log, reading history, chapter names, journal entries, reflections, yes/no prompts, and other content you choose to save.
  • Communications, such as messages you send to us at hello@liminaltarot.com.
  • Payment-related information, such as subscription status and limited billing metadata. Depending on where you subscribe, payments may be processed by Stripe, Apple in-app purchase, or Google Play Billing, and subscription status may be managed through RevenueCat. We do not store your full payment card details.

2.2 Information collected automatically

We may automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including:

  • device type, browser type, operating system, and approximate technical diagnostics;
  • IP address and general location inferred from IP;
  • pages viewed, referring pages, timestamps, and in-app interactions; and
  • authentication session data and similar identifiers necessary to keep you signed in and secure the Services.

2.3 Information from third parties

We may receive information from third parties, including:

  • authentication providers if you sign in through a social login provider;
  • payment and subscription providers, such as Stripe, Apple, Google Play, and RevenueCat, for billing, subscription, purchase, entitlement, and payment status information; and
  • service providers that help us operate the Services.

3. How We Use Information

We use personal information for the following purposes:

  • to provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services;
  • to create and manage accounts;
  • to generate tarot interpretations, daily reflections, chapter synthesis, and related outputs;
  • to save and display your readings, journal entries, and account history;
  • to process subscriptions, manage billing, and provide customer support;
  • to secure the Services, prevent fraud, abuse, and misuse, and enforce our Terms of Service;
  • to analyze product performance and usage trends;
  • to comply with legal obligations; and
  • to communicate with you about your account, updates, support requests, or important notices.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Depending on your location and the nature of the processing, our legal bases for processing personal information may include:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide, maintain, and support the Services you use;
  • Legitimate interests — to improve, secure, and operate the Services, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights;
  • Consent — where you have given consent for a specific purpose; and
  • Legal obligations — to comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time by contacting us, though this will not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

5. AI Processing

Some features of Liminal Tarot generate outputs using a third-party AI service.

We use Google Gemini / Google Generative AI to generate tarot readings and Chapter synthesis. When you generate a reading, we send the information needed to create it — such as your question or intention, selected spread, drawn cards, and reading preferences — to Google Gemini for processing.

When you generate a Chapter synthesis, the request may include the Chapter name, selected readings in that Chapter, previous reading summaries, and your reading question text. If you choose to include your notes by enabling the "include my notes" toggle on the synthesis screen, those notes may also be sent for that synthesis request. Notes are not sent to Gemini unless you opt in.

Daily journal entries are stored for your own reflection and are not sent to Gemini for reading generation.

If your question appears to involve immediate self-harm or crisis language, the app shows crisis resources instead of sending that question to the AI model.

AI processing may occur in jurisdictions outside your country of residence, including the United States or other countries where Google operates. The specific Gemini model used may change over time as we improve the Services. We do not use your private reading content to train our own models, and we do not sell your personal data. Google may process submitted content under its own terms, policies, and safety rules, and may retain submitted content for a limited period in accordance with its API data retention practices. You should avoid submitting information that you do not want processed for the purpose of generating an AI response.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Services.

These may include:

  • Essential authentication/session cookies to keep you signed in and secure your account;
  • Functional cookies or local storage to remember settings, dismissed prompts, or interface preferences; and
  • Analytics cookies — on our website and progressive web app only, we use Google Analytics to understand product usage and improve the Services. Google Analytics is only loaded after you consent through our cookie notice, and is not loaded inside our installed iOS or Android app. Google Analytics may set cookies and collect data such as pages visited, session duration, and general location. This data is processed by Google under its own privacy terms. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

We do not use analytics data for personalized advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

Affiliate link clicks. If you click an affiliate deck link, we may log the deck, placement, and time of the click. If you are signed in, that click may be associated with your account while your account exists. When your account is deleted, the user link is removed and the click record is retained only in anonymized form.

You can usually control cookies through your browser settings, although disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the Services from functioning correctly.

7. Payments

Paid subscriptions and related payment transactions are handled by third-party payment and subscription providers, including Stripe for web purchases, Apple in-app purchase for iOS purchases, Google Play Billing for Android purchases, and RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management. We receive limited information related to your subscription, such as customer IDs or platform identifiers, subscription status, billing period information, product identifiers, and transaction metadata needed to operate the Services and manage support. We do not store your full payment card number.

8. How We Share Information

We may share personal information only as reasonably necessary in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers and infrastructure partners that help us operate the Services. The processors we currently rely on include:
    • Supabase — authentication and database;
    • Vercel — hosting and server infrastructure;
    • Google Gemini / Google Generative AI — AI reading and synthesis processing;
    • Stripe — web/PWA subscription billing;
    • RevenueCat — native app subscription entitlement management;
    • Apple App Store and Google Play — native in-app purchases and subscriptions;
    • Resend — support and email delivery; and
    • Google Analytics — web/PWA product analytics only, when enabled and consented; not loaded inside our installed iOS or Android app.
  • Support email handling. When you contact support, we use Resend to deliver support emails and related messages. Your email address, message, selected topic, and relevant account context may be included in the support email so we can respond. Support messages are not stored in Liminal's application database, but they may remain in our support inbox and email delivery logs.
  • Professional advisors such as legal, accounting, or compliance advisors where reasonably necessary.
  • Legal or safety reasons, including to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or valid governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Liminal Tarot, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, asset sale, reorganization, or similar transaction.
  • With your direction or consent, where you ask us to share information.

We do not sell your personal information.

We may use and share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you. Such information is not subject to this Privacy Policy.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Services, maintain account functionality, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

Retention may vary by data type. For example:

  • account and profile information is generally retained while your account is active;
  • saved readings, journal entries, and chapters are retained until deleted by you, removed under product rules, or deleted when your account is deleted; and
  • certain billing, transaction, security, and audit records may be retained for a longer period where required for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or operational reasons.

If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with your account, except where we are required or permitted to retain certain data by law or for legitimate operational purposes.

10. Account Deletion and Content Controls

Liminal Tarot provides tools to manage or remove parts of your content.

Depending on the feature, you may be able to:

  • purge or delete individual readings;
  • remove journaled content or saved data; and
  • delete your account and associated profile, reading history, chapters, and other stored content.

Subscriptions are not cancelled by account deletion. Deleting your Liminal account deletes your account data from Liminal, but it does not cancel subscriptions managed by Apple, Google Play, or Stripe. You must cancel those subscriptions through the relevant store or billing portal.

If you need help with deletion or privacy-related requests, contact hello@liminaltarot.com.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.

12. International Data Transfers

Liminal Tarot is operated from Singapore. Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than the country in which you live, including the United States and other jurisdictions where our service providers and infrastructure providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.

Where required by applicable law, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions, to support the lawful transfer of personal information across borders.

13. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • request deletion of your personal information;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and/or
  • request portability of certain information.

These rights are not absolute and may depend on applicable law.

To make a privacy-related request, contact hello@liminaltarot.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

California residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have additional rights, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of sales of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact hello@liminaltarot.com.

Do Not Track

We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" browser signals. You can opt out of analytics tracking using the Google Analytics opt-out tool referenced in Section 6.

14. Children's Privacy

Liminal Tarot is not directed to children, and the Services are not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

15. Sensitive Information and Crisis Content

Users may sometimes enter highly personal or emotionally sensitive material into the Services. While Liminal Tarot includes certain safety-oriented product behavior, the Services are not designed as a medical, mental health, legal, or emergency service.

Please do not rely on the Services for crisis intervention, emergency response, or professional care.

16. Third-Party Services and Links

The Services may integrate with or link to third-party services, including payment providers, authentication providers, analytics providers, external resources, or social sharing surfaces. Those third parties operate under their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their independent practices.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and may provide additional notice where appropriate.

Your continued use of the Services after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means the updated Privacy Policy applies going forward.
