The Fool names the beginning that does not come with a full plan. It appears when new beginnings are less about certainty than about innocence, openness, and a willingness to move before everything is resolved. There is spontaneity here, but not mindlessness: the kind that comes from trusting curiosity more than rehearsal. In love, work, or any turning point, this card often reflects a free spirit choosing motion over over-preparation, and accepting that not every meaningful step can be justified in advance.
Reversed
Reversed, The Fool often points to the strain between movement and hesitation. Recklessness may be part of it: acting too fast, skipping context, or treating consequences as someone else's problem. Just as often, though, it reflects fear of change disguised as caution, where holding back starts to look safer than it really is. Naivety can show up on either side of that line — either in assuming nothing can go wrong, or in assuming you are unprepared for what is already asking to begin.
